Happy Easter...

I hope you all had a very happy Easter celebrating our Risen Savior! We really had a wonderful Easter celebration this year. First of all, we were in town and got to have some good relaxing family time. And secondly, a whole new light was shed on the Easter story as I attempted to explain it to J this year.

J loves learning about holidays and the traditions that accompany them. We had the privilege of participating in several egg hunts and J caught on quickly. (I will post those pics in the next blog post!) However, the task of explaining the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus seemed much more daunting. In teacher fashion, I got out the visual aides (an awesome tomb and figurines gifted to us at church) and soon realized that Jackson was getting hung up in the details. First, he remembered "Baby Jesus" from Christmas and was confused by the "man Jesus" that I was showing him. Second, he loved the part of the story where Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem and we re-enacted that about 30 times. Third, when I put Jesus in the tomb, he wanted the angel, soldiers and apostles to join him. Thus, I let him finish playing with the set and decided to keep it simple. We put the visuals away and read Mark 16 from the Bible. Then, we talked over and over again about how "Jesus is Risen" and "Jesus is Alive". After all, that is the foundation of the true meaning of Easter. The details can come later, but I want that truth so deep in his heart that he never even questions it.

Here are a few pictures from Easter Sunday. J is going through a phase where he does not like having his picture taken and yells at us when we try. You'll see what I mean.

 Reading his new book.

 Easter Basket!

Yes, that is chocolate drool coming out of his mouth.

Just one more piece of chocolate, please?
 Yep, I gave in.

 One sweet picture
And, he is done!

On a side note, we started swim lessons today and J did great. It made for a busy day, but I am excited to see what he learns. I'll keep you posted.
