Cows say "Mmmm"

J is obsessed with cows. He has actually started seeing them all over our house. We have a hook in our bathroom that if you ask J, has miraculously turned into a cow. :) Scott's theory is that he has an imaginary friend that is a cow. I say, "who knows!".

Last week, I stumbled upon news that Ft. Worth has a daily live cowherd that travels down one of the main streets in the stockyards and decided J needed to see this. On Saturday, we made the trek to Ft. Worth  and witnessed the authentic cow herd. I was quite impressed and so was J!

However, the highlight of our trip was the "horsie" that J got to ride. I was not sure if he was going to like it, and I was correct, he LOVED it! He even put up a good fight when Scott tried to take him off. The most humorous part was that he thought it was a cow. He made cow noises the entire time he was riding his "cow" and the owner of the "cow" thought it was hilarious.

Why Jackson Goes to the Mall

I absolutely love going to the mall. I don't even have to have a reason to enjoy a trip to the mall. When I first started teaching and would have a hard day, I would go to the mall and enjoy window shopping, the energy of the other shoppers, and stop by Mrs. Fields. Suddenly my day was much better!

I have learned that J enjoys the mall for very different reasons. I thought I would showcase a few of them below...

1) Not only does he get to see zillions of other strollers (or "cars"), he usually gets to eat at his favorite restaurant! He can eat an entire 6-piece Kid's meal plus the extra bread and fruit that I bring. What a growing boy!

2) We often meet favorite friends and family at the mall. Thanks for joining us "Lala" and "Haha"!

3) We always get a drink with a straw!

And on our most recent trip, ChaCha showed J his new favorite reason for frequenting the mall...

4) The fountain
J LOVES watching this wonderful display of water. After a few minutes, the water dies down before erupting in the air again...
 
J was concerned about the water every single time the fountain took a break. We would always look for it and ask him "Where did it go?". Then, we would celebrate when it erupted again. He caught on VERY quickly!

What a fun time we had watching that fountain. I am constantly amused and entertained by the things he finds enjoyable and interesting.

Playdate

This past week we got to spend some time with one of my best friends and her new baby! J loved Baby K and wanted to help rock her to sleep. Maybe he needs a little sister some day!

Retreat in Paradise...

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."                                                                                           Ephesians 3:20-21

This is the verse that we chose as the theme of our wedding day as God, in his goodness, continually exceeded our expectations in bringing Scott and I together. We met at a birthday party of a guy I didn't even know. Scott then proceeded to sweep me off my feet for the next 8 months, planned the best engagement day EVER, continued to pursue me during our engagement, and God blessed our wedding day by making it so very special for both of us! In all of this, we were amazed at how God orchestrated our meeting and journey to become one so perfectly.

This past year, God blessed us with the most amazing baby! We, again, gloried in His goodness.

Scott and I are amazed at how much God has used this first year with J to grow us as individuals, together as a marriage team, and as a new family. We have experienced more joy than we ever thought possible. We have been stretched physically and emotionally. And mostly, we have had the awesome privilege of watching one of God's creations grow, learn and develop...which is truly remarkable!

At the end of this special year, Scott and I had the opportunity to take a trip. And, we did it! (I am actually quite impressed with myself, because I daily told Scott why we needed to cancel the trip during the entire month leading up to it. I am just attached to my little boy!)

And let me tell you...it was SO worth it! It actually would have not mattered where we went, because the most valuable part was just getting undistracted time for each other. Thankfully, we got the added bonus of finding an amazing part of God's creation that a very attentive staff has made into a paradise where every little detail of your day is taken care of.
