Scott and I celebrated our 4-year anniversary this summer, and I am as blessed as ever to be married to a man who loves Jesus, loves me more than I could ever imagine and is an amazingly devoted Dad to our little guy!
After a quick and wonderful year of dating and engagement, Scott and I enjoyed 2 full years of absolute marriage bliss. Countless people told us that the first year of marriage was hard and to get ready for what was ahead. We read the books, took a pre-marital class and attended our marriage counseling sessions. When we returned from our honeymoon, we were pleasantly surprised that life kept getting richer and more fun!
Right after our 2nd marriage anniversary, we welcomed our son and were amazed at how quickly we fell in love with God's gift to us, in the form of a child, who we knew relatively little about. As he has grown, our love has grown exponentially! I can say that after 2 years of parenting, we are just starting to feel like we have a tiny handle on our new roles and responsibilities as Mom and Dad. I am sure that will change as we enter the next stage. :)
Becoming a mom rocked my world and God has used motherhood to slowly begin to refine aspects of my life I didn't even know needed to be refined. From the initial lack of sleep and routine to a total change of lifestyle from working to staying at home, I was daily made aware that this life is not about me and that God was going to grow and change me more than any other stage of my life thus far. Thankfully, God placed some amazing mom friends in my life to help with such a big and important adjustment. And, my hero of a husband walked with me through each change, worry, frustration and lots of tears. I am blown away by his dedication to our family and ability to love me right where I am!We have faced more of the "hard stuff" of marriage in the later 2 years, but our relationship has also grown deeper and become more and more grounded in Christ. I wouldn't trade a minute seeing now the fruit it has produced in our lives and marriage.
Scott planned an incredibly special evening to celebrate our 4 years together and we got a quick getaway weekend to Austin. Praying and looking forward to many many more years!
Scott reserved the place we got engaged for an evening of dinner and reminiscing. He even made an entire powerpoint presentation (I am married to the King of powerpoint. One of the many reasons I married him :)!) that highlighted each year of our marriage and the reasons he loves me. Yes, he is the best!
Yummy dinner!
"Dav-eed" served us for the third time in our relationship. (We owe him big time, some day!) He is a master chef, superb waiter and best of all, the most talented barista I know! Thanks for making our night so fun.
Oasis in Austin
Love him!
Finally, the sunset...It was beautiful! We love Austin.
Such a fun, unique restaurant
After dinner, we enjoyed driving through a beautiful part of Austin and arrived at Motzart's coffee for a relaxing night overlooking Lake Austin. (Which I am convinced is actually a river.) Scott's drink was the best. I need to start ordering whatever he does, so I don't have to drink half of his!
We decided to tour the Capital since it was 4th of July weekend. We also drove to New Braunfels and floated the Comal. I love floating the river, but I do not recommend 4th of July weekend. It was a zoo.
