Racing...

Scott and I decided to try our hand at a few races this Spring. I am a wannabe runner (and by "runner", I mean jogger!) and Scott and I really enjoyed running together our first 2 years of marriage. The arrival of J has made that a little difficult, but we often drop him with the grands and go on a run together for date night.

In April, we signed up for CitySolve Dallas. CitySolve is a company that is creating mini "Amazing Race" type events in several cities in the U.S. We love the show and I am going to try-out one of these days, but definitely not in the near future. So, this type of race appealed to us both. In CitySolve, we were told that we could use public transportation (DART) or travel by foot, but no taxis or hitch-hiking...not that I would ever dream of hitch hiking in downtown anyway. Our biggest mistake was trying to catch a DART bus. We learned quickly that they are absolutely unreliable on the weekends. We waited for 15 minutes for one that never came. Instead, we ended up running over 7 miles with 9 "pit-stops" in between. It was actually alot of fun, and we would have never made it without our smart phones (which  were totally legal). The race could have been more organized and the challenges definitely need to be harder, but it is a new race and we trust it will improve in the future. Here are a few photos. Remember, we were running from place to place and therefore not very cute by the end!
Wish we could have stopped in to eat. YUM!

We got bonus points for finding 3D art.

One of the challenges included making a pinwheel at an Art Festival.

In May, we did a 10K. We were happy with our time and Scott's brother, Jeff, won his age division. Let's just say he waited awhile for us at the finish line! :)

Thank you, Brian & Taylor for coming to cheer us on!

We did it!
Jeff with his medal!

And a special thanks to Scott, my wonderful husband who runs slow with me, even though he could walk faster than I run!

Playgroup...

J and I love going to playgroup each week. Babies play, mommies talk and there is always snack time. A couple weeks ago, we visited the playground across from Scottish right and had a blast! Such a cool facility.

J and K on the old-school rocking horses!

 Sweet friends!

Camping...

I grew up camping once a year with my family, but Scott's family are professional campers. With a total of 5 Eagle Scouts in Scott's immediate family, he has been on a zillion camp-outs in his life. We went camping with the Pattillos over Mother's day weekend and J was won over to the camping life. What boy wouldn't love being outside all the time, watching animals, eating fun snacks and starting a fire!

Watching the ducks. They weren't very friendly.

J gathering "kindling" for the fire. I learn a new word everytime I go camping with Scott.

Playing at the great playground on the campsite.

 So blessed!

"Why can't I touch the fire?"

 :)

"Driving" the motor home. He was not super happy about the window cover.

 Uncle Brian is so fun!

J found the "Awesome" full moon! I love how he is constantly amazed by God's creation!

The fire...J's favorite part!
